Urban Wall Art Prints

We call urban wall art the artworks made on public walls in the cities. These works, unlike graffiti, are made with professional techniques by talented artists.

Artists from all over the world transform the grey walls into an open-air museum. The artists even travel around the world to create their art pieces.

Expecting nothing in return, they work as a team with local colleagues, some of the travel every year to show their works in galleries and festivals abroad.

What is considered Urban Art?

Urban wall art is an incredible example of contemporary public art. These large-scale murals are created in the streets and on buildings in urban areas. They typically cover wide range of topics including social issues, politics, messages to local residents, or just beautiful cityscapes that make these neighbourhoods more lively and colourful.

Urban wall art can be found in any city that has a huge and vibrant artistic community. Famous examples of urban walls include the "Rice Terraces" by Ernest Zacharevic on Pen and Island, Malaysia or "The Walled Off Hotel" by Banksy in Bethlehem.

— What is the difference between Urban Art and Street Art?

Although they seem almost identical concepts, there are differences between Urban wall art and Street art.

Street art is a term that encompasses many forms of public art. The word street in this terms refers to the location where the artwork will be displayed – often illegally, without permission from local authorities or property owners. They are usually painted at night because this is when the public has free access to them.
One of the most famous examples of street art is graffiti, which has taken on new meaning as it has become more popular and mainstream over time.

The word graffiti comes from Italian, and the meaning can be translated as ‘a mark or inscription made by scratching a wall’. The roots of this style can be traced back to the beginning of hip-hop culture. Street artists frequently use stencils or spray paint, which they place on walls illegally using no permission from property owners.

Another type of street art known as Chalk art uses pieces of chalk to create temporary works that are erased by rain or wind wishing hours or days. Another form called wheat pasting invoices using wallpaper paste mixed with flour make posters out wheat paste paper for display on public spaces like walls and unity poles.

Nowadays, these types of artwork have become more accepted and appreciated by society.

So, the basic difference between Urban wall art and Street art is the use of techniques. In the case of Urban wall art these techniques are more professional, in the opposite way street art is more informal.

Besides, the urban wall art is always planned, the Street is created generally in a spontaneous way.

Still, both of the gave colour and identity to the walls they are on.
